TikTok earnings by follower count

TikTokers make between nothing and six figures, and follower count is a poor predictor of where you land. A typical paid TikTok deal is worth about $186, roughly £140, and only about 4% of creators earn over $100,000 a year. What a follower count reliably does is unlock tools: 500 for TikTok Shop in the UK, 10,000 for Creator Rewards and Subscription.

  • Under 500 followers: brand deals and selling your own thing; no TikTok payouts yet
  • 500 followers (UK): TikTok Shop affiliate opens (age 18+)
  • 10,000 followers + 100,000 views in 30 days: Creator Rewards opens; named creators report $0.55 to $1.20 per 1,000 qualified views
  • 100,000 and up: rates rise, but engagement per follower has already fallen to around 0.5%

This page sits inside the wider guide to how TikTok creators make money, part of CreatorSync’s Earn section for content creators. Every figure below comes from TikTok’s own announcements or a named report, checked in October 2026, and every dollar figure is converted at the Bank of England’s spot rate of £1 to $1.32 on 5 October 2026.

How much do TikTokers make?

Follower count on TikTok opens doors; it does not set the price. TikTok pays nothing for followers. Brands pay for views, engagement and niche, and TikTok’s own Creator Rewards Program pays per qualified view on videos over a minute long.

Start with the shape of the whole market. Goldman Sachs’s creator economy research of April 2023 counts 50 million creators worldwide and puts the professionals, those earning more than $100,000 a year (about £76,000), at around 4%. The same research found brand deals make up about 70% of creator revenue.

Lower down, the numbers are blunt. Linktree’s Creator Report, a 2022 survey of 9,576 creators, found 46% of full-time creators earn under $1,000 a year, and only 12% clear $50,000. Those are cross-platform figures, and TikTok is not an exception to them.

For TikTok specifically, the most recent marketplace data comes from Collabstr’s 2026 Influencer Marketing Report, built on more than 21,000 paid deals from 2025. The average TikTok deal paid $186, about £140. Across every platform, 80% of deals cost the brand under $300, and TikTok’s share of deals fell to 21%, which the report puts down to US regulatory uncertainty.

A typical TikTok deal is £140, not £1,400. The headline rates you see quoted elsewhere are asking prices from a few years ago, not what most creators were paid last year.

How much do TikTokers make at each follower count?

The honest answer per tier is “which tools are open to you”, plus a rate card you should treat as a ceiling. The gates come from TikTok’s own announcements. The rate card comes from IZEA’s data on what TikTok creators charged in 2022, the most recent per-tier TikTok rate card from a named report’s own deal data that this guide could verify.

FollowersWhat TikTok unlocksWhat IZEA’s 2022 data says creators charged per postSource

1 million and upSame tools$5,800 (about £4,390), down from $6,500 in 2021IZEA

Two things stand out in that table. Rates flatten above 200,000 followers, and the biggest accounts charged less in 2022 than in 2021. Set IZEA’s 2022 asking prices beside Collabstr’s 2025 average payout of $186 and the gap tells you how far the market has moved towards small, frequent deals.

Under 1,000 followers

TikTok pays you almost nothing at this size, though UK creators can join TikTok Shop as affiliates from 500 followers. Brands can pay too, because a brand deal has no follower gate; it has a relevance gate, and a small account in a tight niche can clear that.

The route that works at zero followers is the one you control: a product or subscription you sell yourself. Our guide to making money on TikTok with 1,000 followers covers it.

1,000 to 9,999 followers

TikTok Shop is the main door at this size: US creators can join as affiliates from 1,000 followers, and UK creators already could at 500. Going LIVE needs you to be 18, as Social Media Today’s report on TikTok’s age policy change records, plus follower requirements TikTok does not put a number on.

Gifts during a LIVE are the other income at this size. Our guide to cashing out TikTok LIVE gifts covers how they turn into money.

10,000 to 99,999 followers

The Creator Rewards Program and Subscription both open at 10,000 followers. For Creator Rewards, TikTok’s announcement of March 2024 adds three more conditions: 100,000 views in the last 30 days, age 18 or over, and videos over a minute long. The full checklist is in our guide to the TikTok Creator Rewards Program.

What it pays is the question TikTok does not answer. The announcement names four signals that set the rate, originality, play duration, engagement and search value, but no figure.

Creators who have published their own dashboards show $0.55 to $1.20 per 1,000 qualified views, roughly 42p to 91p. The named examples and worked sums are in our guide to how much TikTok pays.

100,000 followers and up

Nothing new unlocks. What changes is the rate card: IZEA’s 2022 data show mid-tier creators charging $3,500 a post and the top tiers $5,000 to $5,800. Against Collabstr’s 2025 average of $186, those are the exceptions a brand pays for when it wants reach in one hit, not the going rate.

Why does engagement matter more than follower count?

Because engagement is what brands buy, and it falls as accounts grow. The single most useful number on this page: median engagement falls from 2.45% at 1,000 to 5,000 followers to 0.66% at 10,000 to 25,000, and sits near 0.5% at every tier above that, according to IQFluence’s September 2026 engagement curve report, which measured 107.1 million active TikTok accounts.

FollowersMedian engagement rate25th to 75th percentile
1,000 to 5,0002.45%1.22% to 4.99%
5,000 to 10,0001.06%0.48% to 2.56%
10,000 to 25,0000.66%0.26% to 2.07%
25,000 to 50,0000.51%0.15% to 2.06%
50,000 to 100,0000.47%0.11% to 2.01%
100,000 to 250,0000.49%0.10% to 1.94%
1 million to 5 million0.54%0.16% to 1.58%
Over 5 million0.47%0.16% to 1.25%

Source for every row: IQFluence, September 2026; engagement is likes plus comments on recent posts divided by followers.

Read the right-hand column, not just the median. At 10,000 to 25,000 followers, the top quarter of accounts engage at over 2%, three times the median. That is the difference between a brand paying the £140 average and paying several times it.

A 5,000-follower account with 2.5% engagement reaches more engaged people per post than a 20,000-follower account at 0.5%. Brands who do the maths know this.

The practical consequence: growing from 5,000 to 25,000 followers roughly quarters your engagement rate. Your reach per post rises, but your price per follower falls, and the view-based tools (Creator Rewards, brand deals priced on views) do not care about the follower number at all.

What should you do next?

What to do next: work out which gate you are closest to, then sell something that does not need a gate at all while you grow towards it.

  1. Find your tier in the first table. If you are under 500 in the UK, the next gate is TikTok Shop. If you are under 10,000, it is Creator Rewards, and the 100,000-view condition is usually the harder half.
  2. Check your eligibility screen in the app. Creator Rewards runs in eight markets including the UK, but the Creator tools screen on your own account is the final word on what you can switch on.
  3. Price yourself on engagement, not followers. Put your own engagement rate against the IQFluence median for your tier. Above the 75th percentile, you can ask for more than the £140 average with a straight face.
  4. Open a route with no gate. A product or subscription you sell yourself works at any follower count, pays the same whether or not a video takes off, and compounds month on month while the platform tools wait for a threshold.

Frequently asked questions

How much do TikTokers make in 2026?

Most make very little and a few make a great deal. Goldman Sachs puts professional creators, those earning over $100,000 a year, at about 4% of the 50 million creators worldwide, and Linktree’s survey of 9,576 creators found 46% of full-time creators earn under $1,000 a year. The TikTok-specific figures on this page sit inside that distribution: a typical paid deal is around $186, and named creators report $0.55 to $1.20 per 1,000 qualified views from Creator Rewards.

How much do TikTokers make per 1,000 followers?

There is no per-follower rate. TikTok does not pay for followers, and brands price by views, engagement and niche. The only follower numbers that matter are the gates: 500 for TikTok Shop in the UK and 10,000 (with 100,000 views in 30 days) for the Creator Rewards Program.

Can you make money on TikTok with 1,000 followers?

Yes. TikTok Shop’s affiliate programme opens at 500 followers in the UK and 1,000 in the US, and brand deals have no follower gate. Creator Rewards and Subscription stay closed until 10,000 followers.

How much does TikTok pay for 1 million views?

Roughly $550 to $1,200, or about £420 to £910, through the Creator Rewards Program, if every view qualifies. TikTok publishes no rate; the range comes from named creators who published their dashboards. Only videos over a minute long earn, and many public views do not count as qualified.

Is the Creator Rewards Program available in the UK?

Yes. The UK is one of eight markets where Creator Rewards runs, alongside the US, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil and Mexico. Your eligibility screen inside the TikTok app is the final check: if Creator Rewards appears under Creator tools and you meet the thresholds, you can apply.

Do follower counts matter less on TikTok than on Instagram?

For earnings, the follower number is the weaker signal on both. The IQFluence engagement data on this page show why: median TikTok engagement is 2.45% at 1,000 to 5,000 followers and about 0.5% at every tier above 25,000, so a small account in the top quarter for engagement reaches more engaged people per post than a mid-sized one at the median. Brands and TikTok’s Creator Rewards both pay on views and engagement, not on the follower count.
